Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long is the season?
A: The league is setup as a six week long tournament with three weeks of group stage play and three weeks of knock out rounds.

Q: Will I have to travel?
A: No overnight travel is required. Groups will be formed in geographic pods to keep match day travel local.

Q: When does the season start and end?
A: Fall, winter, and spring seasons are offered. The Fall 2021 season will be held from late August - October for all age groups.

Q: When will matches be played?
A: One match per week will be held on Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon depending on team and field availability. The schedule will be published once registration closes.

Q: My child or team has never played select soccer, is this league right for them?
A: Absolutely! As an advanced soccer league it is ideal for pre-select, recreational, and lower flight club players and teams.

Q: Is a uniform required?
A: Yes! Uniform kits are part of footballing culture. To deliver a high quality league experience to players and coaches, standard uniform kits are required. External clubs may wear their own uniform kits provided they conform to league standards.

Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: Yes! Registration fees are well below normal club soccer fees. We also offer a $20 discount based on financial need. There may be other temporary discounts. Please join our mailing list to stay informed.

Q: What is the refund policy?
A: Fees are non-refundable. In limited circumstances - such as seasonal cancellation - an account credit will be issued for a future season.

Q: What is a volunteer sponsored team?
A: It's a team sponsored by a volunteer-based organization, such as  recreational league, and coached by a volunteer. Costs savings from volunteer coach labor is passed on to the players in the form of a lower registration fee.

Q: What is a club sponsored team?
A: Club sponsored teams are organized by a youth soccer club and may include a competitive recreational level team, a pre-select team, or a lower flight team.

Q: Does my club sponsored team get a lower team rate?
A: Club and volunteer sponsored teams can be priced at the same rate, or we offer customized pricing for club partners. Unlike many other leagues, the standard registration fee includes all NGB registration (US Club), coach background checks, and referee fees. The club is not responsible for these fees and administrative tasks.

Q: What is a Southwest Virginia Rush Soccer Club's role?
A: Southwest Virginia Rush Soccer Club is not affiliated with the league.

Q: Why are there two different registration fee rates?
A: The league provides flexible pricing and team organization structures to best meet your needs. Players in need of the lowest possible cost may choose the volunteer sponsored team rate. Those in search of greater value may join a club sponsored team and receive coaching instruction from a licensed coach.

Q: Are free agent players able to register?
A: Definitely! Individual "free agent" players are also eligible and will be placed on a Rush club sponsored team with an available roster spot. If a club sponsored team is not available in your area, the player will be placed on the closest team.

Q: Can high school 19U teams include younger, academy JV division players by age?
A: Yes! Players born in 2005 or 2006 (freshman and sophomores) may also be placed in this division upon coach request and league director approval.

Q: Will teams be coed?
A: Boys and girls divisions are preferred and formed as registrations allow; coed teams are formed as a contingency.

Q: What are the team sizes?
A: As an advanced soccer league focused on player development, roster sizes are minimal. All players should be given the opportunity to play significant minutes. Youth division 12U teams will play 9v9. All other age groups will play 11v11. In the event roster sizes do not allow for 11v11, older age groups will play 9v9.
